Each section of the IELTS test is scored individually.  Afterwards the individual scores are then averaged and rounded to produce the IELTS results score between 1 and 9.

Usually, the university program requires the IELTS results between 6 or 7, but the exact score may vary by the study programs.  We always strongly recommend to check the enrollment criteria for your chosen study program at German university in advance.

You can take the IELTS tests  at one of the Test Centers throughout the world.  We suggest to check the IELTS website to find where the closest office is located, there are currently more than 500 Centers in 120 countries.

This is one of the enrollment requirements.  Therefore, you will need to read very carefully the list of the accepted English language test results.  As a rule, German universities offer several options to prove English language skills.  And most of the university admission offices accept the IELTS results.

Most of German university accept IELTS results for the admission purpose. Actually, so far we have not seen a single program that would not accept IELTS results.

What is the IELTS test like?

Here is a little summary table of the IELTS test structure and content. Overall, there are 4 pasts of the test: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. While  Listening and Speaking are the same for everyone taking the test, Reading and Writing parts differ in Academic and General versions.

Reading Choose between: Academic General 3 texts sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes Academic Reading is more difficult than General. It includes 3 long authentic texts written for a non-specialist audience and are on academic topics of general interest. General Reading contains text of different lengths. It includes 2-3 short texts on topics are relevant to everyday life. In addition, it includes 2 short text that focus on work-related issues and 1 long text on topic of general interest.
Writing Choose between: Academic General 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes Academic Writing is more formal in structure and vocabulary than General.  Task 1 is to summarize or explain the information presented in a graph or chart.  Task 2 is to write an essay in response to a suggested problem or point. General Writing also includes 2 tasks. Task 1 is to write a letter in relation to a described situation. Task 2 is to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem.
